STAIRWAY TO FREEDOM – 6 – Embarrassing moment
The defining moment came soon after this. As i was at Macdonalds having lunch , bored as usual, a beautiful young lady smiled at me, i knew she was foreign so i smiled back and said « Hi! », she came straight over and sat « I am Nathalie from USA and i am here for the spring break, i hope I’m not bothering you » she said . I Sipped the rest of the drink and replied « Ofcourse you are not, i’m pleased to meet you Nathaie », i felt happy we got on well together and my heart went more glad when we started talking about spirituality, i found out she was christian as she was speaking about her comittement to Jesus but i remained quiet because i had nothing interesting to share with her. Suddenly she ceased talking, looked at me and asked « Are you muslim ? », i replied with a smile « Yes, I am », then she said « why you are not
veiled ? ». for once, i felt discomfort , and it was then that something clicked, i replied quickly « Nathalie , i am sorry but i have to go now » ,I gave her my phone number and went away.
As i arrived home, i went straight to my room, locked the door, i sat on the edge of my bed and i had myself a good cry. I prayed in a shaky voice « Ya Allah ,you are so kind and without your lights i am lost , O God ,nobody listens, but You , Help me to overcome this rough time and i will serve you for the rest of my life »…
